Cadillac Public Charging FAQs

Purchasing an electric vehicle can feel like a major lifestyle change, and we at Cadillac of Jackson are here to make the transition feel effortless. We’ll go over some common questions that new EV owners have so you can hit the ground running when you purchase an OPTIQ, VISITIQ, or LYRIQ from our dealership in Ridgeland

What Types of Charging Stations Are Available?

With a network of over 250,000 Level 2 and DC Fast Charging stations available across the US and Canada, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from on your road trips down I-55. Cadillac EVs are also compatible with Tesla Superchargers1, so you’ll have an additional 29,000 stations available with rapid charging times. To use these, you’ll need to purchase a GM-approved North American Charging Standard DC adapter as an added accessory. Are you worried about the difficulty of finding locations to plug in? Fear not, as your vehicle’s onboard navigation system will drop pins on nearby charging stations to help guide you in the right direction.

How Long Does Charging Take?

The charging station you choose is largely dependent on the amount of spare time you have available. If you aren’t in a hurry, you can bring your electric vehicle to a Level 2 location. These are typically found at malls, parking garages, restaurants, and hotels, and they range between six and 19.2 kW of power output2. When you connect, your SUV will receive around 12 to 55 miles of range every hour it’s plugged in3. Are you in a hurry to make it to an outing at Strawberry Patch Park? Use your navigation system to find a DC Fast Charger at a commercial location. These have 50 to 350 kW4 of electricity, and they can provide about 15 to 110 miles of range in ten minutes5

How Should I Plan for My EV Road Trip?

To make sure your next cross-country road trip goes smoothly, it’s important to plan ahead. To map out your destination’s coordinates ahead of time, install the myCadillac mobile app6 on your smartphone. This helpful feature will allow you to plan your route to make sure you pass charging stations on the way. You can select Level 2 or DC Faster Chargers through the available filters, and the path will redirect to coincide with your needs. This smartphone application also prioritizes convenience by giving you the opportunity to view each station’s real-time availability, so you can pass up a location if all the charging bays are taken. To streamline your experience further, you’ll have the opportunity to pay for your session from your mobile device. Do you have more questions for our team? Contact us today!
