Cadillac Public Charging FAQs
Purchasing an electric vehicle can feel like a major lifestyle change, and we at Cadillac of Jackson are here to make the transition feel effortless. We’ll go over some common questions that new EV owners have so you can hit the ground running when you purchase an OPTIQ, VISITIQ, or LYRIQ from our dealership in Ridgeland.
What Types of Charging Stations Are Available?
With a network of over 250,000 Level 2 and DC Fast Charging stations available across the US and Canada, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from on your road trips down I-55. Cadillac EVs are also compatible with Tesla Superchargers1, so you’ll have an additional 29,000 stations available with rapid charging times. To use these, you’ll need to purchase a GM-approved North American Charging Standard DC adapter as an added accessory. Are you worried about the difficulty of finding locations to plug in? Fear not, as your vehicle’s onboard navigation system will drop pins on nearby charging stations to help guide you in the right direction.
How Long Does Charging Take?
The charging station you choose is largely dependent on the amount of spare time you have available. If you aren’t in a hurry, you can bring your electric vehicle to a Level 2 location. These are typically found at malls, parking garages, restaurants, and hotels, and they range between six and 19.2 kW of power output2. When you connect, your SUV will receive around 12 to 55 miles of range every hour it’s plugged in3. Are you in a hurry to make it to an outing at Strawberry Patch Park? Use your navigation system to find a DC Fast Charger at a commercial location. These have 50 to 350 kW4 of electricity, and they can provide about 15 to 110 miles of range in ten minutes5.
How Should I Plan for My EV Road Trip?
To make sure your next cross-country road trip goes smoothly, it’s important to plan ahead. To map out your destination’s coordinates ahead of time, install the myCadillac mobile app6 on your smartphone. This helpful feature will allow you to plan your route to make sure you pass charging stations on the way. You can select Level 2 or DC Faster Chargers through the available filters, and the path will redirect to coincide with your needs. This smartphone application also prioritizes convenience by giving you the opportunity to view each station’s real-time availability, so you can pass up a location if all the charging bays are taken. To streamline your experience further, you’ll have the opportunity to pay for your session from your mobile device. Do you have more questions for our team? Contact us today!

Prepare Your Cadillac for Summer Travel
After a long winter and brisk spring, it’s important to prepare your XT5, OPTIQ, or CT5 for the looming temperature spike in Mississippi. To make sure your vehicle is ready to hit the streets of Ridgefield in the summer, we at Cadillac of Jackson are here to discuss routine services that need to be completed. After you read this guide, schedule a maintenance appointment at our dealership.
Windshield Wiper Check
Your car’s windshield wipers have likely taken a beating after our April showers. With more rain anticipated in the dog days of summer, it’s imperative that you check the wiper blades to assess their condition. To start, gently lift them from the glass to get a clear perspective from all angles. If they exhibit a tattered or worn appearance, get them swapped for a fresh pair. This is not only because they won’t remove visual obstructions properly, but they can also damage the front glass if they degrade to their metal base. To see how they’re functioning, engage the wipers after a storm. Do you see streak marks on the windshield? This is a telltale red flag that they’re no longer serving their purpose. Ask us about our silicon options to secure blades that last the entire year.
Coolant Flush
Comfort is non-negotiable, and the grueling heat we experience in the South can feel like a major inconvenience. To escape from sweltering days, it’s imperative that you review the cooling system’s performance. Have you noticed poor airflow coming through your car’s tri-zone climate control system? Maybe there is a foul odor circulating throughout the interior. These symptoms are a direct result of a clogged cabin air filter. Fortunately, our Service Department provides particulate, activated carbon, and HEPA filters to let fresh oxygen flow into your Cadillac model. Another common issue is warm air. This happens when your vehicle has low refrigerant fluid, a damaged compressor, or eroded serpentine belt. This is an easy fix, and we’ll be happy to top off the reservoirs in your car, truck, or SUV during your appointment.
Tires
We couldn’t complete this overview without discussing the importance of traction. If you haven’t already, make sure to switch your car’s winter tires out for all-season, performance, or summer options. These come with tread and sipe patterns that quickly evacuate water and withstand high pavement temperatures. You’ll also want to perform a visual inspection to check for low tread levels or cracks in their sidewalls. To prevent this from happening while heading to Northpointe Lake, you’ll need to get your Cadillac’s tires rotated. This will even out their rate of degradation to extend the lifespan of the entire set. Lastly, if your steering wheel is vibrating or shaking while reaching speeds in excess of 45 MPH, your car is suffering from tire imbalance due to excessive pressure loss. To get back on the road safely, visit our Tire Center to find popular brands like Goodyear, Continental, Hankook, and many others.

How Can I Prepare My Cadillac for Summer Travel?

- Coolant flush
- Tire rotation
- Oil Change

Pair that with a 3,500-lb. maximum towing capacity3, and you’ll be able to bring your jet skis to the Ross R. Bonnet Reservoir. For nimble handling and athleticism, the 2026 Cadillac OPTIQ knocks it out of the park. This vehicle falls in the luxury compact SUV segment, and it supplies room for you and four of your favorite people. You won’t succumb to boredom while coasting either, because the optional 19-speaker AKG™ audio system can be upgraded to include Dolby Atmos®. Is having a low center of gravity a must? If so, you’ll appreciate the standard 20-inch Pearl Nickel alloy wheels with aero inserts.

When you climb in, you’ll be welcomed by 23 speakers, courtesy of the standard AKG™ Studio sound system. Safety
The CT5’s prominent reputation among luxury midsize sedans can be attributed to its standard safety systems. Automatic Emergency Braking1 reduces the gravity of front-end collisions on I-55 by injecting autonomous stopping power. It accomplishes this via radar and cameras, and it works at speeds in excess of 2 MPH. If there’s another car in your proximity, Blind-Zone Steering Assist1 will illuminate an icon on the corresponding side-view mirror to prevent an ill-timed maneuver. When you reverse, available HD Surround Vision1 provides a composite overhead perspective of the SUV to safely maneuver around obstacles, cars, barriers, light poles, and more. Lastly, this SUV comes with three years of OnStar® One2 to access collision services, Wi-Fi, and in-vehicle apps while on the go.
Infotainment
Activate the standard push button start to enjoy state-of-the-art technology features in the 2026 Cadillac CT5. A standard 33-inch Horizon Display™ crowns the dashboard, and it provides smartphone connectivity through the wireless Apple CarPlay®3 and Android Auto™4 integrations. This will mirror your device’s homescreen on the touchscreen to access your maps, songs, podcasts, contacts, messages, and more. For long road trips to Friendship Park you can save your family’s data plan through the high-speed capabilities of the Wi-Fi® Hotspot5. While DJing, your copilot can turn up the volume on the standard AKG6 Studio Audio System to let premium soundscapes fill the cabin. This will allow you to create two separate mirror, steering wheel, and reclining presets that can be accessed with the push of a button. Are you ready to see what else this model can offer? Having a vehicle that can adapt to Mississippi driving and integrate into your southern lifestyle is crucial. Ridgeland drivers are setting their sights on the 2026 Cadillac XT5, since this luxury midsize SUV embodies an all-encompassing driving experience. To witness its key attributes in person after poring over this detailed overview, visit Cadillac of Jackson.
Weather Resistance
The average rainfall in Mississippi is approximately 56 to 59 inches, and traveling through inclement weather can negatively impact your adventures to the Bienville National Forest. To avoid difficulty, the XT5’s available Rainsense automatic wipers engage when the sensors detect obstructions on the glass. Our state is also known for its humidity, and that’s where the standard heated-side mirrors jump into action to eliminate condensation. The standard 18-inch all-season tires will prioritize safety by evacuating water through intricate groove and sipe patterns. They also harden in cooler conditions to maintain a high level of traction. And when the temperature spikes, the standard deep tinted glass and optional UltraView power sunroof will create a comfortable cabin environment.
Technology
Whether you’re traveling along the Mississippi River or embarking on an adventure to the Delta National Forest, the 2026 Cadillac XT5 will provide you with high-end connectivity. To find your way with the quickest routes, the available Cadillac User Experience1 includes onboard navigation2 with real-time traffic alerts3. This will allow you to avoid heavy congestion during peak rush hour with turn-by-turn directions on the available Head-Up Display. Do you and your family members have a hard time agreeing on cabin temperatures? With the varying heat we experience in Mississippi, it’s important to upgrade to the tri-zone automatic climate control system. This helpful feature allows you, your copilot, and passengers in the second row to select your personal preferences on your side of the interior.
Performance
You’ll make it to Tombigbee National Forest in record time when you activate the standard 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder powertrain beneath the hood of the 2026 XT5. This system not only provides 235 horsepower4 and 258 lb.-ft. of torque4, but it also generates a 22/29 MPG city/hwy5 fuel economy. To accelerate with more urgency, choose the optional 3.6L V6 system to harness 310 horsepower4, 271 lb.-ft. of torque4, and an EPA-estimated 19/26 MPG city/hwy5 rating. Mud, sand, dirt, and gravel is common in the area, and that’s where the available twin-clutch sport control AWD system jumps into action. This setup employs Active Yaw Control and high-end tuning calibrations to prioritize handling while cruising to the Panther Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. If you’re ready to begin the long-approval process, visit our Finance Department!

How to Tell if Your Brakes Are Bad

Brake failure is scary. Even thinking about it can make many people tense up. When your brakes fail, you and anyone around you are in danger. How can you tell your brakes are having issues before they fail?
Here are some tips from us at Cadillac of Jackson. We want to make sure all of our Cadillac owners in Mississippi are safe and know the signs of bad brakes.
How to Know if Your Brakes Have Gone Bad
Any or all of these symptoms of bad brakes mean it’s time to get your brakes looked at:
- Brake warning lights. If the Brake System Warning Light comes on, you have a brake problem. If this light comes on, pull over as soon as you can, turn the ignition off and restart the engine. If it still stays on, bring the vehicle in ASAP.
- Odd noises are coming from your brakes. This can mean you have a foreign object between your rotors or pads, but it can also mean your brake pads are worn. Squealing, squeaking, or grinding noises can all indicate an issue.
- Shaking or vibrating when you apply the brakes. This often indicates that the brake rotors are uneven.
- The brake pedal feels soft or goes all the way to the floorboard. This might be a problem with the master cylinder.
- The car pulls to one side when braking. This symptom of bad brakes can also mean a number of other issues.
- You smell burning from your wheels. This means overheated brakes or clutch.
- Fluid on the garage or driveway right behind one of your wheels. This could be brake fluid and if your car doesn’t have enough of it, the brakes won’t work as well.
- You notice your car does not stop as quickly as you are used to, or the brakes respond much faster. Either of these can indicate an issue.
Any of these signs of bad brakes mean you should get your brakes checked immediately.
Is Replacing Your Own Brakes Dangerous?
DIY is always tempting. It is possible to replace brake pads yourself if you are reasonably savvy and have a jack.
Always use the materials your manufacturer recommends if you decide to do this.
However, not all brake problems are as simple as needing new pads. If this is your first time doing it, you can end up not properly adjusting the calipers, meaning your brakes are less reliable.
Other problems with your car could cause some of the signs we’ve mentioned and could need more than just a brake replacement.
For example, while your car is pulling to one side when braking is most often an issue with your brakes, typically uneven brake wear, brake caliper issues, or contamination in brake fluid, a variety of other problems can also cause it. These include improper wheel alignment, uneven or incorrect tire pressure, damaged wheel bearings, or something worse, such as a problem with your steering or suspension.
Replacing your brake pads will not help if your brakes are not causing the problem.
When you have a brake problem, the safest course of action is to come to Cadillac of Jackson and have us inspect your brakes, where our experienced technicians will also look for other issues.
We can then do any necessary repairs and get you safely back on the road.

Regular service and maintenance can reduce the risk of your brakes failing. We can inspect your brakes and spot issues before you start to have a brake problem. And we will make any needed repairs with genuine, original parts.

Are you looking for a full-size luxury SUV? Cadillac is one of the companies you might turn to, but choosing the right Cadillac SUV for your family in Mississippi is the real challenge. The Escalade and the Escalade ESV are both good options, but which one is right for you?
Cadillac of Jackson can help! We are experts on Cadillacs and are here to go over the two options and help you make the Cadillac Escalade vs ESV decision the right way based on your personal needs and lifestyle.
Cadillac Escalade ESV vs Escalade
The ESV here stands for Escalade Stretch Vehicle. This is slightly redundant but explains the main difference between the two. In basic terms, the ESV is longer. Both vehicles are three-row SUVs that comfortably seat seven, and they have everything you expect from a Cadillac. They come with all of the safety features you expect, including lane keeping assist, pedestrian detection, and rear seat reminder, all standard. They also have leather upholstery, heated seats, etc, with cooled seats, a heated steering wheel, and a sunroof/moonroof available—however, the greater length of the ESV results in some differences between the Escalade and Escalade ESV.
Size and Seating Capacity
Both vehicles seat seven, and while there is slightly more legroom in the ESV’s third row, most of the extra space is given over to cargo. The ESV is 227 inches long, compared to the Escalade’s 211.9 inches. (It is also very slightly shorter, but this makes no real difference). But this gives 41.5 cubic feet of cargo space with all seats available, as opposed to 25.5 cubic feet for the regular Escalade. If you tend to have more items and equipment in your vehicle, the ESV is worth it.
Engine Performance and Fuel Efficiency
Both vehicles come with the same standard 6.2 liter V8 engine. Fuel efficiency figures are not yet available for the 2024 models, but both put down 420 hp and 460-foot lbs of torque. However, because the engines are the same, the extra weight of the ESV results in a lower power-to-weight ratio, likely worse fuel efficiency, and a slightly lower towing capacity. The ESV can tow 7500 pounds, and the regular Escalade can tow 7700 pounds. This might make a difference if you are towing a heavy trailer, such as a camper or horse trailer.
Technology and Features Available in Both Models
The Escalade and Escalade ESV both have the following features:
- Android Auto and Apple Car Play
- Heated Seats
- Keyless Entry and Ignition
- Navigation System
- Wireless Smartphone Charging
Higher trims have features such as adaptive cruise control, cooled/ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, and a sunroof. Both feature leather upholstery.
Standard safety equipment includes 360-degree cameras, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and keeping assist, pedestrian detection, and rear seat reminder.
Blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available with some trims.
You can choose from the same trim levels, and both have diesel power available.
Rear wheel drive is also standard for both models, but if you’re interested in 4×4, ask one of our sales reps at Cadillac of Jackson.
Pricing and Value For Money Comparison
For an easy comparison, the Cadillac Escalade 4WD Sport Premium, a higher trim level, is $119,385, while the ESV equivalent is $125,210. So, you will pay more for the ESV.
This makes the regular Escalade better value (especially with the likely slightly better fuel mileage) if you don’t need that extra cargo space.
Ultimately, the Escalade ESV vs Escalade decision comes down to two things.
If you need more cargo space, go with the ESV. If the 200 pounds extra towing capacity makes more of a difference, go with the Escalade. If you don’t need either, you can save a bit by opting for the shorter vehicle (which is also easier to park).
See For Yourself at Cadillac of Jackson
Of course, you can’t really make this important decision without looking at both vehicles.
Come to Cadillac of Jackson, and you can see and test drives both models for yourself.
Our experienced salespeople will help you make the right choice. Contact us to find out more, or schedule a test drive today.

Synthetic Oil vs Conventional Oil

You want what’s best for your car to keep it running smoothly and last for many years. But what type of oil is best? Cadillac of Jackson in Madison county is here to help compare synthetic oil vs regular oil to spot the differences and explain which is best for your Cadillac. That way, you can spend more time cruising and far less time researching how to care for your car.
Synthetic Oil vs Regular Oil
Oil is used as a lubricant so your car’s engine runs smoothly and efficiently. The type of oil you use can greatly affect how it operates. Regular oil is refined from crude oil that’s extracted straight from the ground. Its viscosity index (the oil’s ability to flow at different temperatures) isn’t as reliable as synthetic oil because it’s composed of molecules of various sizes.
Synthetic oil, as the name suggests, is man-made. The molecules in synthetic oil are the same size, making it more efficient at a wide range of temperatures and much safer for your car’s engine when temperatures are high.
When comparing synthetic oil vs regular oil, the viscosity index is worth noting. Although both types of oil contain additives that can improve functionality and protect your car’s engine, synthetic oil is simply designed to do it better. You can also purchase oil that’s blended with a mix of regular and synthetic oil.
Synthetic Oil: Better Mileage Limits
One of the biggest perks of using synthetic oil is that it doesn’t need to be changed as frequently as conventional oil. Longer oil change intervals will depend on the brand of oil you use and your driving conditions and style. Regular oil should typically be changed every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Synthetic oil, on average, can be changed every 7,500 to 20,000 miles or after one year (whichever comes first).
Although synthetic oil change intervals are generally much longer than general oil change intervals, it’s always best to follow the instructions in the owner’s manual for your specific Cadillac model. This is especially important while your vehicle is under warranty.
What if My Cadillac Doesn’t Need Synthetic Oil?
That’s okay. It’s pretty easy to switch to synthetic oil—even if you’ve been using regular oil for years. In most cases, you don’t even need to flush the engine. If, on the other hand, your car has high mileage or hasn’t been properly maintained, you may want to stick with shorter intervals for a while. This gives your engine a chance to be fully cleaned out as you start using synthetic oil.
Stick to the 3,000 to 5,000-mile oil change interval rule for a few cycles to remove any sludge or deposit buildups and to keep things running smoothly. After that, you can successfully use synthetic oil in your car’s engine to keep things lubricated and working efficiently, and you won’t need to change the oil as frequently as before.
When Would I Consider Non-Synthetic Oil for My Cadillac?
Most car manufacturers today recommend the use of synthetic oil. Because of its ability to work across a wide range of temperatures and driving conditions, synthetic oil has become the go-to for vehicles across the board.
That said, synthetic oil may not be the best choice for cars that have more than 75,000 miles. In these cases, it’s best to stick with traditional oil, and it’s best to continue to change the oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. That way, you can rest assured that your engine is being cleaned properly and remains lubricated every time you drive.

Do Cadillacs Require Premium Gas?

There seems to be a prevailing misconception among luxury vehicle owners that only premium gas should be used to fill their tanks. As a result, many of these owners spend unnecessary money on higher-octane fuel, even if their cars do not require it. There are luxury cars that actually run perfectly fine on regular gas, and using anything more expensive is simply a waste of money. What is needed is to understand the exact fuel needs of your vehicle.
It’s important for car owners to check their vehicle’s manual or consult with an expert to understand what kind of fuel is recommended. You can also gain important fuel information and maintenance from the Cadillac Certified Service experts at Cadillac of Jackson. They will walk you through everything you need to know about your Cadillac.
Fuel Types and Requirements from Cadillac
Cadillac vehicles are luxurious, sleek, and powerful. Many models require specialized fuel. High-performance engines demand premium gasoline for efficiency. Regular fuel compromises their performance. Cadillac owners should use premium gas for optimal operation.
Different Cadillac models have different fuel octane requirements based on factors like engine size and type. For example, the CTS needs premium gasoline for its powerful engine options, while the SRX and Escalade can run on mid-grade gasoline for slightly lower-performance engines. Some Cadillac models can also run on E85 fuel, a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, which reduces emissions. Cadillac offers various fuel options to cater to customers seeking both performance and efficiency in their luxury vehicles.
Cadillac vehicles have specific fuel requirements due to their high-performance engines. Premium gasoline is often necessary to ensure optimal performance, although certain models may allow for mid-grade gasoline or flex fuel.
Premium Fuel
Premium fuel is gasoline with a higher octane rating, usually 91 or higher. It’s called premium because it has fewer additives than regular unleaded gasoline. Cadillac has several vehicles that need premium fuel. These include the SRX with a 2.8L V6 engine, the CTS with a 6.2L V8 engine, all Escalade models, and all DTS models.
Cadillac recommends using 93-octane premium fuel in the SRX 2.8L V-6 and CTS 6.2L V-8 engines for optimal performance. If 93 octane is not available, using 91 octane is acceptable. In emergencies where neither premium fuel is found, 87 octane regular-grade fuel can be used. However, aggressive driving should be avoided to prevent knocking and engine damage.
Overall, using premium fuel in these designated vehicles can help ensure better performance and efficiency.
Mid-Grade Fuel
Certain Cadillac models like the SRX 3.0 V-6, CTS V-6, and all STS models are designed to use 87 octane fuel, unlike other luxury cars that need premium fuel.
Following the recommendations in the user’ manual is crucial for owners. Using gasoline with an octane rating below 87 can lead to engine knocking. Engine knocking happens when the air-fuel mixture in the cylinders doesn’t ignite smoothly or at the correct time. If left unattended, this can harm vital engine components over time. So, for owners of these Cadillac models, using mid-grade fuel is essential for optimal performance and engine longevity.
Some Cadillacs can use mid-grade fuel, but owners should check the manual.
Flex Fuel
Flex Fuel vehicles, including the Cadillac SRX, XT5, and Escalade, provide a flexible fueling option for drivers. These models can run on premium gas or 87-octane gasoline without impacting their performance or fuel efficiency. This allows drivers the choice of a more affordable option at the pump while maintaining their driving experience.
Cadillac promotes the use of E85, a fuel blend that contains 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, in Flex Fuel vehicles. Using E85 instead of regular gasoline can have environmental benefits by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. However, it’s important for owners to be aware of the potential damage from using fuels with methanol in these vehicles. The user’s manual explicitly states that using such fuels can harm certain components made of plastic and rubber. This damage is typically not covered under warranty, so it’s important to be cautious when selecting fuel to ensure the car’s longevity and optimal performance.
Flex Fuel vehicles from Cadillac provide an excellent solution for drivers who value both performance and flexibility regarding their choice of fuel.
