EV Maintenance Frequently Asked Questions

If you’ve recently become the proud owner of a Cadillac EV model, then while congratulations are certainly in order, you’re likely hard at work with learning as much as you can about maintenance for all-electric vehicles. Luckily, we at Cadillac of Jackson are here to help by providing relevant answers to some key questions that you may have.

What Is the Most Common Service for EVs?

Due to not having internal combustion engines, EVs don’t need oil changes, but there are still many other common forms of service that you’ll want to keep up with. While the specific details will differentiate between vehicles, it’s a good idea to get your Cadillac model’s tires rotated once every 7,500 miles. In addition to that, battery coolant and socket charging inspections should be conducted at least annually to ensure that no issues are arising at the heart of your Cadillac Lyriq. And even though they may be lower on your immediate priority list, replacing the windshield wiper blades and cabin air filter will also be key to maintaining good quality of life for your daily travels.

Is EV Maintenance Less Expensive?

You can expect to spend less money on maintaining your Cadillac Escalade IQL at our Service Department than you would a gas-powered car due to the different maintenance needs that come with an EV. No oil changes or engine hardware means that the many interconnected parts that you would normally have to account for with a traditional car won’t be present. Instead, the battery life is what you’ll be primarily concerned with, but even that won’t be a major worry, as EV batteries have long lifespans. So long as you’re a careful driver, the only real maintenance expenses that you’ll have to account for are the previously mentioned tire rotations, brake degradation, and other general wear and tear that isn’t specific to EVs.

Does the Cadillac Warranty Cover EV Services?

Yes, Cadillac provides multiple pre-paid maintenance plans specifically for their fleet of EV models. We can go over all the fine details with you in person when you visit us to finance your Cadillac Celestiq, but to get an idea of what to expect, the base pre-paid maintenance plan covers tire rotations, regenerative brake inspections, and a few other forms of service. Then, there are the EV pre-pain maintenance plus1 and premium2 options, which both add on additional forms of maintenance, such as one mechanical wheel alignment with one hour of alignment calibration, and a battery coolant flush. We’ve still got plenty more to tell you about these different maintenance plan options for your Cadillac EV, so pick up the phone and give us a call today!
